How many miles do you need to pass emissions?.Can you pass NYS inspection with a cracked windshield?.How many incomplete monitors are allowed in NJ?.How many incomplete monitors are allowed in PA?.How many monitors do you need for NYS inspection?.Can you pass NYS inspection with check engine light on?.How many miles does it take to reset readiness monitors?.What is an incomplete readiness monitor?.Can you pass emissions with one monitor not ready?.Maybe other people have had success, at least according to that forum? YMMV. Initially I was optimistic when they took my call/info that they were going to actually do something. They took my info, did a follow up call with me and said they'd contact the dealership, and then never did anything else. It's a chronic problem.Īlso notable - I did contact Honda USA customer support to help resolve the issue (after hearing it suggested in another forum). Many people have direct messaged me too asking questions about this. Look at all the comments of people having the same issue and no resolution here. Getting out in the country for that weekend I think hit the marks on what Honda things is a 'normal drive cycle.'. We live in a big city so hitting the exact 'drive to 55 and hold for X minutes, then coast without touching the brakes' is not really possible or easy to do with busy highways. I think we drove about 300 miles more, partially from a weekend road trip, which I think helped. I'm nervous about future tests if the EGR fails and the EVAP hasn't turned over yet, but that's a future problem to worry about. Yep, in my state it's only required to have 1 of the 2 sensors testing properly to pass. Also, should this be covered under warranty for the emissions system? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, how is the emissions system failing to pass on an almost brand new car NOT part of the emission system warranty?.I asked the dealer for a definitive answer and he couldn't give me one. There seems to be several different versions of what the Drive Cycle is for Honda posted all over the web, but they each seem to have different steps, times, speeds for things.Has anyone run into this issue? Have any advice or idea on how long to keep driving before trying again?.I'm not sure what to do outside of 'just keep diving it' but eventually I need to get this registered and tags transferred, but in my state I can't do that without passing the smog test first. They charged me for a diagnostic test, even though it's under warranty and the emissions system not passing emissions testing (That seems like it should be covered. So I took it to the Honda dealership and they ran a diagnostic and other tests and found no issues. They start charging me if I fail the next emissions test. The test guys said if just one of those systems was "ready" it would pass, but both can't be not ready to pass. I brought it back a week later and it failed again, and they told me to drive it more and take it to my mechanic or dealer to fix it. The first time I failed, they said to just drive it for another week since the car had been sitting and it needed more time to log data. I've twice failed the local DMV emissions test, not because of emissions or error codes, but because the EGR and EVAP monitors have not cycled. I've driven over 1,000 miles in different conditions the past month (we drove it for half a day across the country to get home), including 2 trials of this recommended Drive Cycle for Hondas. It was sitting for a couple months before I could pick it up then. I received this van as an inheritance after a surprise death in the family in early April. Good condition, at least a year and a half left still on the warranty (or 18000 miles).
